Amazon rejects images for reasons that are easy to miss and easy to fix. Below are the requirements in one table, what belongs in each of the nine slots, and the mistakes that get a listing suppressed. At the end — how to get the whole set from a single product photo.
These are the values Amazon publishes and sellers see enforced. The authoritative page lives inside Seller Central, and individual categories add their own style guides — check yours before a big upload.
| What | Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum size | 1000 px on the longest side | Below this, zoom does not switch on |
| Recommended size | 1600 px or more | 2000–3000 px is the safe range |
| Main image background | Pure white, RGB 255, 255, 255 | Near-white can be flagged |
| Product in frame | 85% of the frame or more | So it reads as a thumbnail |
| File formats | JPEG, PNG, TIFF, GIF | JPEG is the usual choice |
| Colour space | sRGB or CMYK | sRGB is safer for the web |
| Shape | Square, 1:1 — recommended | Amazon does not state a required ratio |
| On the main image | No text, logos, watermarks or borders | Only the product itself |
Most categories give nine slots and show seven. The order below is the one that answers a buyer's questions in the order they ask them.
Product on pure white, filling the frame. This is the one that has to earn the click in search results, so it is worth generating several variants and testing them.
The numbers a buyer looks for — material, size, power, capacity — as callouts on the image. Most shoppers never open the bullet points, so the specs have to be visible as a picture.
The product next to something familiar, or with dimensions drawn on. Wrong-size expectations are a leading cause of returns.
The product in the situation it is bought for. This is the slot that answers «will this work for me», which text cannot do.
A close crop of what the buyer worries about: the stitching, the thread, the hinge, the texture of the fabric.
Everything the parcel contains, laid out. It removes the question before it becomes a message to you.
The most common one. A studio shot on «white» paper is usually 248–252, not 255, and the automated check sees the difference even when your eye does not.
Formally allowed, commercially fatal: in search results your image is about 180 pixels wide, and a small product turns into a grey speck.
«Best seller», «50% off», a logo bar, a discount sticker — all of it belongs on the other slots, never on the main image.
The main image has to be the actual item. Drawings, mock-ups and placeholders are grounds for suppression.
The listing stays up, but zoom never switches on — and on a desktop, zoom is how people inspect what they are about to buy.
A listing is not one picture but a set, and shooting a set is where the cost sits. Renolvo builds the set from a single photo of the product.
A phone shot is enough. The AI reads what the product is, what it is made of and how it should be shown.
It asks only about what it cannot see for itself — composition, size, who the product is for. «I don't know» is a valid answer.
The main image, the specification infographic, the scenes. Each frame comes in several variants, and you keep the ones you want.
One finished image starts at $0.54, a complete set for one product starts at $3.00. No subscription and no monthly minimum: money sits on your balance until you spend it, so a single image is a perfectly normal thing to buy.
The 500 free starter tokens are enough for several full sets. If you don't like the result, you have spent nothing of your own.
